Pike flies

It feels good to tie flies again! I did some experiments on tubes today, which I won’t post because they’re horrible, so I took a hook instead and tied me these. They’re not a hundred percent as I wanted them to be, but I’m sure that the pike won’t mind.

The head is polypropylene fibre, and I tied in some Crazy Legs as well.

the same here

And I’m still in the mood, so I think I’ll just tie me another one…

You are a master with those poly heads. Did you shape them with a laser? (LOL) I still think those micro eyeball rattle would work great on these. Nice flies Stefaan.

Very much like the bit of red on the underbelly of the last one! All look great!

The legs are a nice addition. I'll have to give them a try.

Javier, thanks a lot. I just keep experimenting. Sometimes a fly can look good on your vise, but once you try to fish with it, it can be a real tragedy, but these have a great action.

Michael, thank you. And no, there’s no laser involved. Just two pair of scissors. The first is a heavy one (for cutting textile), for the rough shape, and then a small (sharp) one to finish.

Erin, thanks! And it doesn’t surprise me that you noticed the details.
My opinion is, that when you put this much effort (and time) into a fly, the details become a big part of the enjoyment of tying.

Jeff, I’m pleased that you like them, because the yellow/black one is yours.

David, thanks! And although I don’t have the intension to throw them in the water just like that, it’s a fact that when you stop stripping, they still have a very lively action when they slowly tumble down by their own weight. So, in a way you’re absolutely right.
